Wedding Service Fees
|
|
If you have been shopping around, you probably have noticed that there are as many different approaches to wedding photography fees or packages as there are photographers.
My approach and fee structure is based upon the kind of person I am, a quiet, sensitive, and romantic observer who likes to keep things simple, yet, wanting to give you a complete remembrance of your wedding, a proof book filled with photos that shows what took place on your wedding day.
My feeling is that this is your wedding day and I am there to help you enjoy it. I also want to help you get the photos you want and that are important to you. I do this by giving you a photo information sheet to complete prior to the wedding. It tells me who all the major players are; where things will be taking place; if there is anything special about the ceremony or reception I should know about; and any special photos you have in mind.
One thing that I think is important as a photographer is getting together prior to the wedding for an informal photo session, some photographers call this an engagement session. This is a time for each of us to get to know each other so that on the day of your wedding you don't feel a stranger is photographing your wedding, it’s John. This is why it is included in the fee. I will give you a number of 4x6 photos photo from the session.
People often ask about how many pictures they will receive in the image book. The answer is, of course, it depends. It depends on the amount of time, how many people in the wedding party, how many guests, the amount of activity during the wedding and reception and, of course, how much fun everyone is having. Since I photograph with high end digital cameras, I’m not limited by the number of photos I take and I usually take a lot. So you could get anywhere from 300 to 500 photos to look at.
Since I operate on a first-come-first-served basis, your first payment reserves the day, the second payment is due one week prior to the wedding and the final payment is due upon delivery of the image book. All this is pretty much negotiable since not all weddings are the same. Click here to see a sample of the Letter of Agreement.
You can pay the first payment by check or call me with your VISA, MasterCard or American Express information.

The Informal Photo Session
I think it is important that we get to know each other so that on the wedding day you feel comfortable. After all, I will become a member of the family for the day. Prior to the wedding, we go to a location of your choice and just have fun taking photos. This will give you an idea on how the photo experience will be on the wedding day. You can use these photos in your wedding album, in a signature frame, as an engagement photo, etc. They also become part of the proof book. Click here to view samples from informal photo sessions.
About the Proof Book
The proof book includes images of most of the photos taken and really is the chronological story of your wedding. It is a 8½ x 11spiral bound album with six images per side. By the way, you get to keep the proof book.
About the Formal Album
The formal album is the main keepsake of a wedding and includes the highlights from your wedding. It is included in the album package or you can purchase one separately. You tell me which photos you would like in the album and I will put a proposed magazine style layout together for you to look at. If you have any particular ideas on the layout or the treatment of the images, they are welcome. The layout is placed on my web site for you to view before it goes to the album maker. I take care to make each album a beautiful storybook that will preserve the treasured memories of your special day for years to come.
With digital photography, I feature flush albums made by Zookbinders in Chicago. With the "flush" album, I create each page on the computer, show you the proposed layout for your approval and then send the pages to Zookbinder where they are hand crafted into a beautiful book type album.
If you would like the more classic matted album, that is available also.

Coffee Table Book
The coffee table book is similar in layout and size to the formal wedding album but is 24 pages and is printed on a high quality paper. It is then bound with a hard cover, more like a traditional book. The same process will be used as with the formal wedding album but the maker of the book is ASUKA Books.
Other Albums Available
There are many album companies to choose from each featuring a different style album. Albums also come in a variety of sizes, some smaller and some larger. Some feature metal covers with an image. There are art books and also the coffee table books. There are lesser expensive albums that would make a good parent’s album. Ask me and I will show you what’s available. My approach is to give you what you want, not to sell you something.
Images on the Web
I will include a sampling (ones I think of most interest) of the photos on a website where people can view the images and purchase them if they wish. Sure, I can include them all on the website but it would take forever to navigate through all of them. If, however, after viewing the image book, you would like to add additional images, I would be happy to include them. If you would like to check out the website, go to www.johnziemann.photoreflect.com and look under Recent Photos.
Reprints Available
Reprints come in the following sizes: wallets, 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 and 11x14 and are printed on a matte finished paper. They can be ordered from the web or directly from me. Larger sizes that can even be printed on canvas are also available.
Booking Policy
It's really very simple, first come, first served. No holding of dates, no exceptions - fair to all. I am a person of my word (and my Letter of Understanding). Call or e-mail me now to see if your date is available and make the first payment via the convenience of a credit card or send me a check.
