About John

I have loved photography ever since I received my first camera at 10 years old. My early photography experience was photographing the family and later I became interested in nature and scenic photography. But like so many folks, it was strictly a hobby because I always had a job doing something else. Even then I was able to incorporate my love of photography into my jobs and had access to a number of photographic darkrooms. Then a young lady in our office wondered if I would photograph her wedding. Of course, I jumped at the chance and have been hooked ever since.

Another telling situation was when a friend in the office I was working in at the time said, “The only time I see you with a smile on your face is when you have a camera in your hands.” Shortly after my job ended I had the opportunity to make my passion for photography my full time job. For the last 10 years I have truely loved being a professional photographer.

Along with developing my photographic skills, being a professional photographer has allowed me to use other skills that I developed on other jobs including a director of conferences at several major universities, as an adult educator, as a developer of business programs, and an instructor in a computer lab. I also learned some very vital people skills along the way.

My focus in photography is on people and capturing the essence of whom they are whether it be as a portrait or in an important event in their life like their wedding. My goal is to make the photography experience enjoyable and fun while taking great photos.
