About John

I have loved photography ever since I received my first camera at 10 years old. My early photography experience was photographing the family and later I became interested in nature and scenic photography. But like so many folks, it was strictly a hobby because I always had a job doing something else. Even then I was able to incorporate my love of photography into my jobs and had access to a number of photographic darkrooms. Then a young lady in our office wondered if I would photograph her wedding. Of course, I jumped at the chance and have been hooked ever since.

Another telling situation was when a friend in the office I was working in at the time said, “The only time I see you with a smile on your face is when you have a camera in your hands.” Shortly after my job ended I had the opportunity to make my passion for photography my full time job. For the last 15 years I have truely loved being a professional photographer.

Along with developing my photographic skills, being a professional photographer has allowed me to use other skills that I developed on other jobs including a director of conferences at several major universities, as an adult educator, as a developer of business programs, and an instructor in a computer lab. I also learned some very vital people skills along the way. This helped me capture the essence of who people were whether it was a portrait or in an important event in their life like their wedding. My goal was to make the photography experience enjoyable and fun while taking great photos.

My focus in photography has recently changed to going back to what got me started in photography in the fisrt place, nature photography.
